Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.9 and version 8.2.2.2 introduced a new client user interface option, Siebel Open UI.
The Siebel Open UI client is an alternative to the high interactivity client (for employee applications) or the standard interactivity client (for customer applications). Siebel Open UI provides a rich user interface experience, like high interactivity, yet presents many advantages over high interactivity and standard interactivity. Recent browser versions are strongly recommended, for optimal functionality.
You can deploy employee applications or partner applications, such as Siebel Call Center or Siebel PRM Portal, in Siebel Open UI. You can also deploy customer applications, such as Siebel eSales or Siebel eService, in Siebel Open UI. A new Application Object Manager component for Siebel eService for Siebel Open UI was introduced in Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.11 and version 8.2.2.4. The Siebel Mobile applications for mobile devices, which are built on Siebel Open UI, were introduced in Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.9 and version 8.2.2.2.
NOTE: User interface references in this guide assume that you are using Siebel Open UI. The Siebel application procedures in this guide assume that you do not use left-hand navigation. However, you can set up left-hand navigation. For more information about left-hand navigation and about implementing it, see Siebel Fundamentals for Siebel Open UI.
To use Siebel Open UI with the Siebel Web Client, the Application Object Manager component must have the parameters EnableOpenUI and HighInteractivity set to True. To use Siebel Open UI with the Siebel Mobile Web Client, you set these parameters in the application configuration file. For applications that currently use high interactivity, HighInteractivity is already set to True.
NOTE: Before you enable Siebel Open UI, it is recommended that you first create a new Application Object Manager component that you will deploy using Siebel Open UI. For example, create this component on the same Siebel Server as an existing Application Object Manager component that is enabled for high interactivity, and base the new component on the existing one. For more information about creating server components, see Siebel System Administration Guide.
Use the following procedure to enable Siebel Open UI for an Application Object Manager component.

NOTE: The HighInteractivity parameter also must be set to True for Siebel Open UI. For applications that are currently enabled for high interactivity, this parameter is already set to True.
Use the following procedure to enable Siebel Open UI for Siebel Mobile Web Clients.

NOTE: The HighInteractivity parameter also must be set to True for Siebel Open UI. For applications that are currently enabled for high interactivity, this parameter is already set to True.
For new installations of Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.11 or version 8.2.2.4, the Application Object Managers for the Siebel Mobile applications are enabled for Siebel Open UI and do not require further configuration for this purpose. These applications require Siebel Open UI.
In migration-installation cases where the Siebel Server was already configured, you might have to run a script to create these Application Object Managers. An additional task applies for the Siebel Web Server Extension. For more information, see the documentation for the Siebel Mobile applications.
After you have enabled Siebel Open UI for any of the Siebel applications, to revert to high interactivity (where applicable), you must set the EnableOpenUI parameter back to False. If you do this reversion, then the browser requirements for high interactivity apply again. The browser requirements are described in the Certifications tab on My Oracle Support and in Siebel System Administration Guide.
